My Cozy Guest Bedroom

As a Realtor, I’ll be the first to tell my clients not to add polarizing decode just before listing their homes. We obviously want any potential buyer to be able clearly envision themselves enjoying the space in their own way.

However, I’ll tell any homeowner to follow their heart when choosing how to make their home a beautiful space to live. And I decided to take that advice when updating my own guest room.

I decided to draw from the two most comforting places I knew as an inspiration for the space my own guests would find a comfortable retreat.

Really any wallpaper reminds me of the 1970’s and 80’s flair of my maternal grandmother, while the florals and heavier furniture remind me of my other grandmother’s house. My mom’s mom even had the most stylish coral colored guest room while I was growing up, so a coral tone in the curtains was a fun nod to her as well.

As with the rest of my house there’s a mix of higher end and very inexpensive in this room.

The wallpaper was a tad expensive, but I did get it on sale.

The bird light on the side table was also a spend.

But the furniture was hand-me-downs from my parents, and the curtains and curtain rods were found after a weekend of bargain hunting.

Also, to save a lot of expense (and definitely to my family’s surprise), I chose to wallpaper the entire room by entirely myself.

The wallpaper took an entire week, but I managed it!

I’m so glad I went with personal details that make me smile and that I’m happy to share with friends and family!

I can’t wait to hear how you lend personality to your own space!

Your hostess,

Erica
